NEW YORK (June 24, 2025) — New Yorkers will choose their next mayor in November’s general election – not in Tuesday’s Democratic primary – thanks to the independent strategy of Jim Walden. The leading Democrats all copied Walden and took third-party lanes to ensure their place in November, when voters will choose among Walden, a disgraced mayor, a disgraced former governor, a 33-year-old socialist, or a radio host in a red beret.
Walden, a former mafia prosecutor and prominent attorney, has raised $3 million in his bid to end corruption in City Hall and fight crime, while moving the mentally ill off New York’s streets and into treatment. He has also promised to build our way out of the housing shortage. Walden is the first independent candidate in a citywide race ever to qualify for public matching funds and doubled his numbers in the Emerson College poll.
“The real campaign for Mayor of New York City begins today. Now the people of New York will learn that they have a strong, independent and highly capable alternative to the corrupt, compromised or cartoonish field of candidates,” said Walden. “I am the true independent in this race. I will not blow with the wind or be a puppet to parties or special interests. I will run the city from the middle lane.”
Walden has committed to ending corruption in city government through an independent agency whose prosecutors whose reach will extend to City Hall itself. “We didn’t need backroom deals or foolhardy promises to motivate our supporters across the city,” he said, citing the 24,000 petition signatures that got him on the ballot.
“My administration will break barriers by hiring based on competency – not partisanship,” he said. “We will fix the persistent problems with New York. I will not rest until these jobs are done.”
Jim Walden, a prominent lawyer, former federal prosecutor and successful business leader, has been fighting for good government for 30 years. He has found creative solutions for people from every walk of life, and businesses in many industries. His work has been featured in four documentaries and one feature film.
